The paradox of time

For a good portion of the day there are these moments of fluidity, where everything seems to be clicking.

The grok bots are communicating proactively and coming up with solutions before the work day even starts. I have an idea, and I brainstorm with Astra on mock designs and permutations to existing projects to see them magically render at the speed of my thoughts. I then remember I need to schedule some meetings and turn to Instinct to find availability and send out emails and once confirmed coordinate schedules.

This is the ultimate experience of not overthinking the use of all the various tools and models but trusting that the way I am interacting is as if I know a handful of languages.

And maybe that is not a coincidence. These are the moments where my coffee cup feels endless, as this fluidity extends through the hours I spend heads-down on a screen.

Reality eventually kicks in, when its time to compartmentalize these evergreen thoughts and focus on the kids pre-bed routines and the various other small but important personal projects that no AI seems to be able to crack.

By now, the coffee has worn off yet there is still more work to be done.

While I have never felt more expansive in the work I am able to do, there is always more to do.

That is the nature of productivity and also a subset of how general intelligence works.

General intelligence begs us to keep solving known and unknown problems as they arise. It’s also what makes these tools so difficult to teach since there’s no self proclaimed rulebook for the endless whackamole of things that can be done.

It’s also what makes these tools, and especially having a variety of them with different use cases, special since they are inherently customizable for the curious users.

While I constantly hear of the need to ‘retrain’ individuals in companies for how to use these tools to me this is missing the point.

Education continues to be about discovery and having a growth mindset, and AI is no different.

Learning skills today may be obsolete tomorrow, but curiosity is timeless.
